Why you need help choosing paint colour

It’s simple. The majority of people do not have a colour education. While the average person may be able to successfully combine colour in clothing, paint colour is a very different matter. Even for people who do have a colour education, choosing a paint colour can be challenging. The reason for this is the understanding of what happens to paint when placed over a large surface area.
Without this knowledge of amplification and other important information related to paint saturation and undertone, what you’re engaging in is a game of chance.
The other significant reason is that the majority of people have trouble visualizing the outcome.

Why you need help choosing white

The idea that white is easy is one of the greatest colour misconceptions of all time.
White is a challenging colour and more often than not I see people getting white wrong. The same rules of colour amplification and most significantly undertone, apply to white. Choosing the correct white may not seem as challenging as choosing something more distinctively coloured but nevertheless the choice can make a dramatic difference to how your room looks and feels.

Why the right colour matters

Again it’s simple. When they’re off you feel it. It may be subtle, but if your colours are off and are not resonating with you then you’re constantly experiencing a low level discomfort and probably agitation.
We feel colour at a very deep level. Colour is part of our evolution as humans. Colour is not merely something that sits on the surface of your walls, it has life. All paint colours vibrate at a certain frequency and believe it or not, we are sensitive to this.
Colour can completely change how you feel about your home. It remains the most powerful and inexpensive medium to completely transform a space or an exterior.

Why work with me

Mostly because what I’m interested in is you! I not going to tell you what to do. I have no interest in imposing my will or design sense on my clients. I want to work in collaboration with you. Beyond that, my goal is to give you the best possible version of what you want and to introduce you to things you would never have imagined, but that I can sense are there inside of you.
I have certain abilities that work well together. I’m highly intuitive, I know what happens to colour when painted over a large surface area, and I can visualize the outcome.

 Why it’s worth it

Getting colour wrong is a drag. You either have to paint all over again or you have to live with it. Both of those outcomes have a cost associated with them.
Choosing colour is a creative process and when you’re working with someone who understands that process and can guide you through it, then what happens is that any stress melts away.
At the end of the process you will completely understand how we got to the place we did and why the colours we chose together were the best possible choice to make.
You’ll also see all the colours we chose in combination, and that’s incredibly important because colour is all about relationship.

“I feel like my guardian-paint angel paid me a visit, waved her magic wand, and got rid of all my paint-stress.”

I’m a collaborator; as such my first role is to listen.

Choosing new colours for your home can be a daunting task, let me help guide you through the process.
I’m there to encourage you when you’re on the right track, pull you back from the edge of common colour mistakes and introduce you to new ideas.

My understanding of the creative process frees you to move within it and avoid the pitfalls of indecision and second guessing.
As one client put it to me, “you opened a door and I walked through it.”
Colour can conceal or reveal. It can create a mood, it can relax or excite.

A colour choice doesn’t have to be “colourful”, but even neutrals require thoughtfulness and skill to be at their most interesting.

Colour is about the architecture of your home.
Well placed colours will do justice to your home’s high points and smooth over its shortcomings to create a sense of balance and well-being.
